The two best aspects of sports are community and storytelling. So, for the Northern Lights Supporters' Group's first major non-gameday-related event series, #NLSGxCopa71, we organized screenings of Copa 71, the documentary about the record-breaking and often forgotten 1971 Women's World Cup, with Northern Super League clubs across Canada. These events doubled as intimate community-building opportunities for attendees to meet their incoming women's soccer clubs, fellow fans, Northern Lights representatives and their local supporters' groups. The Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver events also featured post-film panels with NSL club representatives such as players, front office staff and industry experts.

PHOTOS & VIDEOS FROM THE NORTHERN LIGHTS SG's COPA 71 EVENT IN TORONTO. This event was co-hosted with AFC Toronto at O'Grady's on Church in December 2024. It featured the film Copa 71, our pre-recorded interview with the film's co-directors (James Erskine and Rachel Ramsay) and a panel I moderated with AFC Toronto's players Jade Kovacevic and Leah Pais.

COPA 71 EVENT PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS. To differentiate between events– while still maintaining visual recognition as a series– our NLSGxCopa71 promotional material used the same layout and movie poster tinted to match each co-hosting NSL club's branding.
